Janos original Dino engine wasnt a spliced V12 but an all new design, it had a light alloy cylinder block & heads, wet liners, twin chain driven overhead cams per bank & 3 twin choke carburretors ie 1 per cylinder, usually it used  65 deg rather than inlet port ducting. In the mid 60s Frances Rocchi had been commisioned to make the engine stronger & more durable. By the time the Fiat connection had been made the unit was available with a capacity of 2 or 2.4 litres, a top speed of 130 mph gave it 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds. Just had £6000 bare metal body respray to highest standard, reciepts and photo’s as proof, brakes overhauled, a full service and mot. This car has been dry stored for 20 years & is in excellent original condition.
This car is truly amazing A1 condition, A SHOW WINNER.

Originally supplied by Lex Mead of Weybridge to a london based customer, this particular Cotswold beige example dates from 1983 & thus employs an SU carburetor fed v8 engine. Entering the current ownership some sixteen yrs ago via the Rolls-Royce main agent in Chester, the luxury saloon is stated to have covered approx 91,300miles from new. Reportedly used on several leisurely European continental tours, the Silver Spirit has a service book, old m.o.t's & lts of history, while in recent yrs the car has apparently received attention to the bodywork and wheel-arches, along with extensive paintwork to the lower sections of the shell. The Rolls Royce's body has been maintained very professionally, with photos to prove this. She has been garaged most of her careful life & is in excellent condition. (with toolkits & handbooks). 4 speed, column change true quality Talbot coach build, MK11, benefitted from a major chassis redesign which incorporated coil and wishbones and independent front suspension and revision of steering layout. The superb large engine, this upped the power by only 6 to 70 BHP, however the effect on the available torque was significant and the facelift included extra side grills, which now flanked the main radiator intake along with the reprofiled front wings and the redesigned fascia; the end result being a much prettier car, with beautiful body lines. In 1970, the previous owner asked and asked if this car was for sale, he offered £200 for her and it was refused, a year passed, then a phone call came offering him the car, he then offered £200 for the Sunbeam Talbot, and a deal was done. He then organized a tow truck to pick her up, and she was delivered to her new home.He decided then to have 1 year off from work, and spent every minute and every penny he had to restore the car back to its former glory. He then used the car as his daily car, making full use of the picnic seats for weekends out with the family, it was true love; he eventually parked her up and in 2002 had a full body restoration done with LEAD FILLING where needed new sills and panels etc All receipts and photos costing nearly £20,000 and engine heads were done at the same time. THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RALLY CAR IN THE WORLD.

This beauty has had a total restoration & is like a new one but better. 1600 engine is rebored to 1700 etc. The shell is originally from Australia & benefits from better strengthening than the English shells all done at the Ford factory.

Mr. Whittaker, the owner, has his own, well known very respectable MOT & Restoration garage who have restored this car as a labor of love, but his time and patients has run out, his labor of love is now racing bikes.

I asked him if any body wanted to pay you to do the work you have done to this car, how much would you charge, he said at least £20,000 & the skilled & difficult side of the restoration is done, but I would say that 30% needs finishing i.e. putting engine and interior back, but if anyone knows anything about these cars, it wouldn't be difficult. I would put a real connection and bond to this car. The engine is perfect & polished etc. Threes a video and photos to show the extent of this cars condition <better than new>. I really cannot say what this car would be worth finished, but I do know all the hours that have been put into the restoration would have been £20,000 & one thing I can guarantee is that this is the BEST IN TH WORLD!!!!

1970 was a very important year for the Ford Motor Company of GB.

This was the year in which the Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations <AVO>, and the Ford Rallye Sport <RS> dealer network were setup: AVO to build performance versions of the ford range of cars and manufacture tuning equipment.

The Rallye Sport dealer network to merchandise the AVO products to the public.

1970 was also the year of the daily mirror world cup rally - won by Hannu Mikkola driving a ford Escort. In fact Escort took not only 1st but 3rd, 5th and 6th positions.

The RS1600 was announced 1970, this car was the next development step from the Escort twin cam. The RS1600 was fitted with a 1600cc BDA 16 valve engine.

During the RS1600's life the works cars started out with 1600cc BDA, 160bhp engine, 4 speed gearbox and finished with 240 bhp 2000cc BDA engines, five speed ZF gearbox's.

The cars that won the World Cup Rally were RS1600's, fitted with 1860 pushrod engines (x-flows) instead of the BDA unit.

The reason behind this was the pushrod engine was built to be bullet proof and was ideal for a long distance event. With the success of the World Cup Rally gave us the MEXICO road car.
